Shopkeeper's Birds

I am the owner of a pet shop. If I put in one parrot per cage, I have one bird too many. If I put in two parrots per cage, I have one cage too many. How many cages and parrots do I have?








A pet store owner has a parrot with a sign on its cage that says "Parrot repeats everything it hears". Andrew buys the parrot and for two weeks he speaks to it but it doesn't say a word. He returns the parrot but the shopkeeper says he never lied about the parrot. How can this be?
